Slippery Elm Poultice
Slippery elm also known as Ulmus rubra comes from the bark of slippery elm tree. Slippery elm contains mucilage which is a gel like substance that has anti-inflammatory effects and promotes wound healing.
A slippery elm poultice can be used externally on wounds or irritated skin. The poultice can be used to draw out splinters and foreign bodies from the skin. It also encourages boils to come to a head.
Instructions
Use enough slippery elm bark powder to cover the affected body part.
Add hot water to the powder until it has a paste like consistency.
Place the mixture on a piece of folded muslin. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to spread the mixture thinly so that the surface area will cover the whole area of the affected body part
