Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a succulent plant with green leaves that contain a clear mucilaginous gel which has anti-inflammatory properties. The aloe vera gel contains mucopolysaccharides which are special sugars that give aloe vera its special properties.

The cooling effect of the aloe vera gel can be used to heal wounds, burns, abrasions, eczema, psoriasis by reducing inflammation. If the skin is broken, aloe vera encourages the skin to repair itself.

 

Burns and Wounds

Cut the spikes off the sides of the leaf

Cut the leaf lengthwise down the middle and open it

Leave the gel in the leaf and apply the gel side to the burn or wound

Place plastic wrap or bandage the area

Leave it on for 24 hours to allow the skin to heal

 

Gastrointestinal irritation

Aloe vera gel can be used internally to relieve inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. It can help with heartburn, ulcers and inflamed intestinal walls

Take 1 oz of aloe vera gel in 4-8 oz of water 15-30 minutes before a meal

 

Caution

The yellow sap/latex/exudate from the aloe vera leaf acts as a laxative and should not be used internally.
