Slippery Elm
Slippery elm also known as Ulmus rubra is a bark that contains mucilage. The mucilage forms a gel that promotes healing and reduces inflammation.
For this reason slippery elm bark can be used to relieve inflammation in the digestive tract and is beneficial for indigestion, heart burn, ulcers, constipation, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, gastritis, cough, bronchitis and more.
How to use slippery elm internally?
Stir 1 tsp of slippery elm bark powder into 8 oz of water and drink 15 to 30 minutes before meals.
Slippery elm can also be used externally on boils and to draw out splinters. Click here to learn how to make a Slippery Elm poultice.
