Steam Inhalation

Steam inhalation has been used for so many years to open nasal passages. It can be used be to relieve nasal infections, sinus infections, nasal congestion, bronchitis, cold and flu. As the name suggests, it involves inhaling steam which helps to loosen the mucus in the nasal passages.

 Ingredients

  • a large bowl or pot

  • water

  • eucalyptus oil

  • a pot or kettle for heating up water

  • towel

 Instructions

  1. Heat up the water to boiling.

  2. Pour the hot water into the bowl.

  3. Add 1-2 drops of eucalyptus oil to the water

  4. Drape the towel over the back of your head.

  5. Turn on a timer for 10-15 minutes

  6. Keep your eyes closed and lower your head toward the hot water. Do not make direct contact with the water.

  7. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose for 10 to 15 minutes for each session.

 

Duration: 10-15 minutes

Frequency: 2 to 3 times a day
